This book builds on the special relationship between grandparent and grandchild, at all ages. The grandchild engages the grandparent in a series of conversations which results in a  book about the life and times of the grandparent; a book that captures family history and stories only a grandparent can tell. The  process further strengthens the grandparent-grandchild bond and produces a family heirloom.

My New Book is Almost Here…

As you may have noticed I have shifted to posting just on Tuesday’s. A slowing in one area to make room for a speeding up in another I suppose.

I have had the most wonderful summer with my children and although summer is not yet over for our household I feel it creeping back into a heavier work time for me.

Recently, I bought a healing table and am feeling tugged to find a space to offer healing and intuitive services. I am also looking forward to getting back my one free (no kids) work day a week in about a month and getting back into my voracious writing. Plus I have two manuscripts ready to send out to potential agents and publishers!

But the most exciting thing coming up in this next month of August is that I have a new book that will be released.  I have been working on this book for 14 months with a co-author, Dick Edwards, and it has just came back from the designer so we are so close now!

My Grandparent: A Life & Times Journal for Grandchildren of All Ages is a book that sets-up quality time for conversation during which the grandchild records important family history as told by the grandparent and the two create a family heirloom together. It serves two purposes by deepening the family bond between generations and by collecting a written account of all the stories that you love, and even more that you may have never heard, putting them into a form to be shared and cherished. It is an interactive and heart centered book for the family and I am so proud to be bringing it to you.

And the timing of its release couldn’t be more perfect because Grandparent’s Day is September 8th. And what a lovely gift this book would make 🙂

I invite you to take a moment and “like” our Facebook page:

88 Days and Done!

I did it!!!

Yesterday was Day 88 of converting 2 months worth of hand written journals into a typed computer document. The grand total was 154,042 words. The next step will be rewriting and actually making it into a book. But first I will be taking a much anticipated break.

Here is a sample if you are curious:

Also, I wanted to mention that the #88 pops up for me a lot! I see it on license plates, phone numbers, and other random places. Usually when I see 88 it speaks to me as a sign. For me it feels like it is the Divine winking at me and saying, “Good job. Keep going.” I feel very encouraged that I am living my life’s purpose when I see this number and that is why it means so much to me that it showed up here.

A Piece from My Memoir

From Day 58 of transcribing my journal:

This was such a sweet moment for me. I hadn’t rocked my daughter to sleep since she was 4 months old and somehow on this particular day things aligned for me to be able to do so and this is what happened…

So here I was holding onto this little golden nugget. My darling baby girl, sweet and silent in my arms. I could feel my hands start to pulse as I held her. One hand on her bottom and one on her head. I called in our teams (spiritual guides and angels) to work together for our highest good and opened myself to allow whatever energy was to flow through me to her. Captured in this moment and in this divine flow, it was as if we were both being nursed by a divine mother. Grace delivered.

With her sweet little face still turned up towards me I stared at her. And took in the great detail noticing the small and delicate features of her face. Her little nose, her little lips, her little cheeks. Her hair flaxen and gold and how it shined in the light that glimmered through from the darkness of the room. Then all of a sudden I could see her through my eyes, my spirit eyes, those that see much deeper than the beauty of her skin. Those that invoke the sight to see into her soul.

Her face looked like a tiny little pink flower blooming with perfection amidst a green forest floor. Her petals stretched beyond her, so delicate, a pale rosy pink and her eager face turned upward to see the world from among the blanket of green. Then I took notice of her surroundings. All around her I could see tall, huge, massive trees towering up from the forest floor. They felt like Redwoods they were so mammoth and carried such great godly presence. And then from the hollows I heard, “Is the little pink flower no more important than the tall standing tree? No more a miracle in its own being and beauty as the tree is?”

“All things big and small are beautiful and important. Each is created with the light of God’s hand. We should have reverence for all things in the material worlds. To treat them with respect, with love, and gratitude for their being. For you are all sharing this space for the time being.”

In that moment holding Marin and hearing the words that were shared comparing my baby, a tiny delicate flower, to those who tower over her like trees, adults, I could see the equality of the two break through. Although she may be small and fragile like a flower (a flower cup flashes in my mind) and not tall and strong like a tree or an adult she is equally a miracle in her own right. She is equally valuable and a blessing. And she equally holds her own sacred space amongst all life. A sight to behold. Something awe-inspiring and grand. Crafted by Gods hand, I hold her gently in my own. Gentle; this word sticks with me. I have not been gentle today, with my temper, with my children, and at times with myself. And yet here I am totally gifted by the gentleness of this sacred moment and in it touched by the gentleness of God, the gentleness of spirit, and the divine communication I am open to.

An Update on my Daily Transcribing

English: Home position - Hand position for typ...

Some of you may know that I have been transcribing for many days putting hand-written journal entries into a document on my computer. To date it has been 80 consecutive days and I have 108,873 total words!

The series of 4 journals I am transcribing are from last September through the end of December. I was chronicling a shift that I was going through, a deepening of a connection to myself as well as to the Earth, and like any journal, it was just me being me and writing my life down. Sometimes I wrote as a multi-dimensionally aware spiritual being and sometimes as a much too crabby mom/wife. In volleying back and forth I found that life flows in many different directions and that it is hard to stay centered in just one way of being even though it seems I consistently keep trying.

Half-way through the experience I started to understand that these journals were to be a book, in fact 2 books, so that is why I have been working so diligently at transcribing daily. Even if it is 5 words or 4,000 I get something done. I also have been holding myself accountable on Facebook and twitter posting my daily words transcribed. It has kept me going which is a good thing because I am honestly getting tired of it. So, here is where I am with my overall plan. I will get through the journal entries that carry me through to the end of October and then when I get there I will be giving myself a much deserved break. When I come back to it in a week or two, I will then start to edit the journals and begin to write the first book.

This has been a daunting thought for me for a while now. I wonder how am I ever going to be able to make any sense out of all of this and make it into a “story!?” Thank goodness for my writing buddy to help get me in the right frame of mind for this looming writing process. (By the way she too is a blogger- http://merspiration.wordpress.com/)

In our last conversation I was expressing to her that I didn’t know how I was going to make sense of any of this. That I read other people’s memoirs and they read like a novel, but my journal entries are so choppy, I didn’t know how I would be able to write it to flow from one thought into another. She gave me the name of a book to check out that had a different flow in being a memoir and encouraged me that if I have a different technique and I lay it out for the readers at the beginning than it should be ok to follow. I said a little prayer asking for, “perfect ease and flow in creating my memoir,” and I left the conversation trusting whatever it is supposed to be it will be.

I feel a lot more comfortable now and am actually looking forward to going back through my jumbled mess of ramblings knowing it will take its own form as I re-write and create it. I don’t have to make it be like anyone else’s work, I just have to make it my own and that I know I can do.

So NEW goal is to be done transcribing by the end of this month. Yikes! Did I just really say that? Follow my progress on Facebook and see if I am able to make my deadline. http://www.facebook.com/KorinnBooks. I am secretly a little annoyed with myself for making this statement as I have 20 days of journal entries to get through in the next 11 days. I guess I better get to work.
